Build Review by "Shaky" Svein Part 3
Wings.
The aileron servos have already
pre-made holes in the wing and there are also a thin thread to pull the
wires through. So I just pull the wires through and screw in
place the servo. On the one picture you can see a finished up
servo with pushrod, and parts that I need to make the other one. So
its just straight forward follow the building manual step by step.
Since the plane
now is almost finished, I think I will finish up all the graphics on the
plane, but first I need to finish up the engine cowling. I only have
to make holes for the engine cylinder and some air outlets. There
are also here suggestions how to do this in the manual. I always
mark out from my head what I feel would be ok. You can see from
underneath what the results look like.
For the air outlets I have used a
pre-made template. I just lay it on the cowling where I want them
,and mark with a pen and the use the Dremel tool to open it up.
The plane is now nearing completion
with all its graphics on the outside. What I have left is the fuel tank,
choke and throttle pushrods. Receiver, power expander , batteries and
switches. And of course, the propeller.
I am waiting for the batteries ,power
expander but hopefully it will be here soon.
I finished up the pushrods for the
throttle and choke shown on a picture. Underneath the fuel tank I
glued in a piece of plywood to stop the heat from the canister and secured
the tank in place, making fuel filler and air vent and fuel line for the
engine. Then I go for the ignition setup.
As you can se from the pictures I
mount the battery on the same side as the switch but the ignition switch
is on the other side so the sparkplug lead will be better situated.
At the same time I install the two
switches for the batteries for the power expander and the receiver on the
other side. Same side as the ignition as you see on the picture.
I am still waiting for the power
expander , but I have anyway setup the plane for my transmitter against
the receiver, so when the power expander arrives it's just to install and
get ready to fly.
The picture from the power expander is
from my 33% SD model Yak, but this is the same that I will use for this
aircraft.
So the plane is actually almost
finished up now, it is set up and ready for the first engine start-up
tomorrow in my back yard, then I will run threw a few liters of gas and
make the fine tuning on the engine.
When this is done its just to get the
cg on the right place using the batteries and that's it.
More pictures will follow when the
plane gets assembled outside and started.
