Aerobatic Tips

The Plane

 1. Weight-  Shoot, there are probably a limitless amount of ways to reduce weight on the planes, but for now we'll just touch on some of the ones that we feel are most necessary in order to obtain optimum  flight characteristics for  your aircraft. Here's just a few ways to start that diet towards better performance.

  A. Plumbing- Having a smoke system on your plane is really cool if your doing a lot of show routines

but it can add to the weight factor enormously.  Almost 2-3 pounds can be shed here by removing the

smoke system when you are not performing.

   B. Servo Extensions.  I've seen countless aircraft with excess servo wire wound up all over the place.

Use the shortest lead that you can in your applications without a lot of excess wire left over.  Make sure that all the connections are secured and cannot come apart in flight.

   C. Spinner-  Use a spinner that is the lightest you can find.  The carbon fiber spinners are the lightest

on the market.  If you intend to use an aluminum spinner, try to get one with a lightened backplate.

This will help to reduce the weight here.  Addtionally, there are some fiberglass spinners out there     that rival the weight of the carbon fiber spinners.

 2. Servos- Nothing can be more detrimental to an aircraft than insufficient power on the control surfaces.  If you skimp here and don't use powerful enough servos, the plane will suffer from "blowback" and the control surfaces will not hold in critical situations.  We recommend using the new Hitec HS-7995TG or JR 8711 servos for the best results on all control surfaces for planes 35% and above.  The plane will hold a decent knife edge all the way down the field if the rudder can maintain optimum position through out the maneuver.  Remember, quite a bit of force is being exerted on the rudder surface during this type of stunt.
